"I've been down the darkest alleys, saw the dark side of the moon..."
Selena Gomez just released a new track called "Wolves," and it gives us some personal insight on what the singer's gone through in the past year. The song was written by Andrew Watt, who tapped buzzy DJ Marshmello to give the track an EDM touch, but the lyrics hit very close to home for Gomez.
"The song is very beautiful and personal and just has a story of its own," she explained on Beats Radio 1. "Weirdly, at the same time I was working on it in Japan, I was going through stuff too, so it's mirrored everything."
"Wolves" is the latest single Gomez has released this year, following "Bad Liar" and "Fetish" featuring Gucci Mane. The singer hasn't officially announced an album yet, but she teases we should be expecting one soon. She is, however, taking her time after taking a hiatus last year. "I'm going to release the songs I want to release, I was also going through some stuff personally and wanted to take care of myself," she explained.
"To be honest, I feel like I have two albums already completed," she added, "But I want to figure it out." Gomez also promises her upcoming music, whenever it releases, will be "honest." "I would think it's safe to say that after all the things that I've experienced," she said.
